DALLAS (AP) — Tate Sandell kicked a 47-yard field goal on the final play and Oklahoma overcame its continued offensive ineptitude with touchdowns on special teams and defense in a 27-24 win over No. 1 Texas in the Red River rivalry game Saturday. The Sooners beat a No. 1 team for the first time since a 38-17 win over Missouri in 2007. They had been 0-4-1 when facing a top-ranked Texas team. Arch Manning threw three touchdowns for the 4-1 Longhorns but both of his interceptions were costly.

Max Verstappen aims to extend F1 winning run as he starts on pole for Singapore Grand Prix

SINGAPORE (AP) — Max Verstappen is back at the front of the Formula 1 field but will need to improve on some “horrendous” recent starts from pole position in the Singapore Grand Prix. An upgraded Red Bull car has catapulted Verstappen back into the fight for wins, and the four-time champion was dominant in Singapore on Saturday, winning the sprint race before qualifying on pole. That backed up his first win of the season last week in Malaysia. Kimi Antonelli starts fourth Sunday with a chance to further extend his standings lead over Mercedes teammate George Russell.

Christian Yelich and the Brewers looking to get past Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers in NLCS sequel

MILWAUKEE (AP) — All along, Christian Yelich felt this was going to be part of the road for the Milwaukee Brewers. It was always going to be the Los Angeles Dodgers — with their consecutive World Series titles and a payroll that casts a long shadow over Yelich and the small-market Brewers. The 2026 NL Championship Series is a sequel, with Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers taking on Jackson Chourio and the Brewers. Los Angeles swept Milwaukee in last year’s NLCS on the way to the championship. Game 1 is Sunday night in Milwaukee. Yelich says he always felt the Brewers would be facing the Dodgers in the NLCS again this year.

South Carolina also pulled off an upset, defeating Florida 38-19, easing pressure on coach Shane Beamer. Instead the defending national champion Hoosiers won their 22nd straight game and Nebraska lost its 31st in a row against a Top 25 opponent.
